Welcome to the Lascaris Malta
Association which was founded in 1989. Originally known as
Lascaris (Malta) Communicators Association, it was formed to
re-unite Communicators who worked at the Commander in Chief
Mediterranean Fleet's Communications Centre in Lascaris
buildings. Staff were based in Camarata Barracks, H.M.S.'s
Ricasoli, St. Angelo and Phoenicia as well as WRNS Communicators
living in Whitehall Mansions.
It became obvious that no
exclusively Naval Association existed for former Naval personnel
who had served in Malta. In recognizing this need the
Association was broadened to incorporate ALL Royal Navy branches based
ashore in Malta including Fleet Air Arm personnel based at
H.M.S. Falcon / R.N.A.S. Hal Far. Recently the Association, in
addition to RN personnel, further extended eligibility to RAF,
Army & Crown personnel who served in Malta up until the British
departure in 1979.

Reunion. |
|
The annual reunion is held over a long
weekend (i.e. Friday p.m. to Monday a.m.) in late September or
early October. As a trial the 2008 Bournemouth Reunion as been
scheduled for midweek rather than a weekend. |

booking arrangements in the Newsletter.
The 2008 Reunion is to be held in Bournemouth at the
Ocean View Hotel on
Monday 6th October to Friday 10th October. There are only 20
single rooms available so it's first come, first served.
Please do not book direct with the hotel.

The Malta 2008 reunion is scheduled for Tuesday 10th thru 17th June at the
Preluna Hotel, Sliema.
Flights and hotel accommodation booking arrangements will be the
responsibility of individual attendees. By way of example only:
a Thomas Cook standard room per person for one week flying from
Gatwick is £404 and similarly for 2 weeks £600. However, you
should be able to find cheaper packages by shopping around.
Chevron who deal only with Malta is a possibility but
unfortunately have stated their brochure and web site price
lists for 2008 will not be out until mid to late October. It is
recommended that the holiday is booked as soon as possible
because of the flight availability. |

Association Newsletter. |
| A Members' Newsletter is published in February,
May, August & November. |
| Articles provided by members are very welcome and
should be submitted to the Newsletter Editor via email (see On-Line
List) or letter (see above). The deadline for any particular
Newsletter is the middle of the month prior to publish month. |

Membership Subscriptions. |
| Membership subscription is £10 annually
payable on the 1st January. |
